OUR BEST FOUNTAIN PEN VALUES

From more than a hundred choices we present what we think are the best six values. These represent great value for various reasons. What we think are the best from $4.25 to $139. The least expensive fountain pen, the Pilot Varsity is so cheap it’s laughable. It’s also disposable. Our most expensive value is the Lamy 2000 for its lightweight fiber body combined with a very light-touch nib. The Lamy Safari and Pelikan Future both are cheap, lightweight and great casual writers. No flash, all performance and under $30 price. The Retro Big Shot wins for its screaming colors and a balance rarely found for $49. The Pilot Vanishing Point is our all time Favorite fountain pen. They’re on every desk here. Bullet proof ink flow with a choice of broad, medium or fine 18k gold nibs. The retractable click-top function ensures this will be your favorite too. It’s the definition of practicality.

OUR BEST ROLLER BALL VALUES

Roller balls deliver an easy liquid line with no effort unlike the waxy old ballpoint refill. Roller ball pens are all about the fluid refill experience. The Tombow 202 is the least expensive liquid ink roller ball system pen at …$12; priced for general office usage. The refills are available from Extra Fine to Medium. ACME has perhaps the most unique roller balls from the conservative Frank Lloyd Wright up to the WHAM! POW! From Ben Hall. That’s diversity in design. ACME uses our most common roller ball refill. The Pelikan Sovereign 600 is an ‘executive level’ hand-crafted pen. Pelikan refills are very well respected. The Retro Tornado is the least expensive fine quality roller ball in the universe. A simple twist-top metal body in a host of colors. Retro’s standout, the Postmaster is without a doubt the most unique; it’s hand assembled with cancelled stamps from around the world. Take a formal step up with the Tombow Object CD. Classy. Our least expensive ‘executive level’ writer is the Tombow Ultra. Classic shape and conservative colorations say you’re ready for business.

OUR BEST BALLPOINT VALUES

The common ballpoint. Loved for its slower pace, familiarity and comfort. To that end, we put forth the following values in the trusty ballpoint. The Cross Century II Paisley injects seasonal fashion combined with a technical superiority from Cross. The Duofold, while rather pricey, represents the finest value in an ‘executive level’ writer. Ballpoints, being usually the least expensive writing mode in each range provide extreme value. The Sonnet from Parker is at the other end of the spectrum delivering incomparable value at the bottom of the ‘executive’ range. Cross’s 10 carat gold writer is a perennial favorite, and comes with a Cross fluid mechanical action. The Lismore from Waterford displays its metal in this value category. Not cheap but a super value for Sterling. Want to write for free forever? Then the Fisher Millennium is your choice. This stout barreled ballpoint is guaranteed to never run out of ink. Thousands sold and three replaced.

OUR BEST PENCIL VALUES

The now rare mechanical pencil is no longer common. Most brands have dropped pencils. Some brands continue but possibly only in safe colors such as black. Don’t despair however, as we’ve listed all the pencils we offer. The pencil options below are from lowest to highest priced. The top of the selection is the Pelikan 600 with a choice of black, green, red or blue. The Waterman Carene, a longtime best seller is perhaps the best value in an ‘executive level’ instrument. The Pelikan Pura is in high demand due to its heavier than usual stout metal body. Durable and performance based, perfect for travelers and students. The Parker Sonnet Slim is a great purse or checkbook sized pencil. The Lamy 2000 is available in either .5 or .7mm sizes. Gorgeous curves. The least expensive everyday pencil we offer is the Lamy Safari. A super value in any writing mode, the pencil excels.

OUR BEST MULTI-PEN VALUES

Who doesn’t love a multitasker? With multi-pens you can write in several ballpoint colors and maybe even a pencil as well. All of these have at least several choices in each pen. The M3 from Monteverde is perhaps the ultimate combination of modes. Write in either ballpoint, roller ball or even fountain pen modes. What else could you need? Elegant shape and durable performance. The Lamy 2000 4 Color ballpoint is rather self-explanatory. The Parker Facet, our new best seller for 2008 has your choice of two ballpoints and a pencil. The Lamy Multi-Pen is an inexpensive writer which has three ballpoints and a pencil. Had enough?
