The first Portuguese explorers called them índios('Indians'), a name that is still used today in Brazil.Many of the estimated 2,000 nations and tribes, which existed in 1500 died out asa consequence of European settlement, and many assimilated into the Brazilianpopulation. Only a few tribes survive in their original culture in remote areas ofthe Amazon Rainforest.Hand turned from solid bars of a special brown Hevea color resin and black resinit offers in the edge a disk engraved with the limited edition number.
