The Metropolitan Museum of Art Medieval Colonnette Collection
Everlasting flourish
The new Medieval Colonnette pen collection from The Metropolitan Museum of Art features a design from a miniature column made in Cologne, Germany around 1175-1200. Adorned with intricate champlevé enamel, copper alloy and gilt, these original columns were found in reliquary shrines that decorated the interiors of Cologne churches All are accented with gently brushed gold plating and a solid blue top. The black trim rings were also a part of the original colonnette in The Met collection. The fountain pen and rollerball are capped, while the ballpoint is a one-piece twist-top. Fountain pens feature a gold plated, bi-color steel nib in medium point. Rollerball refills are available in eight different colors and three point sizes. Ballpoint refills are offered in three ink types, three point sizes, and up to ten colors.
