The new Waterman Exception is truly exceptional in many respects. Who made the rule that fine writing instruments need to be round? These gently square instruments flatly reject that time honored standard. The layer upon layer of hand applied lacquer has a tactile feel of softness? The fountain pens are an 18kt gold nib. Literally, individually, hand-crafted. The overall feel of quality may be unmatched in the entire pen world. This series is available in two variations. Night & Day, which is an oversized instrument and the 'standard' size. Night & Day features a muted silver lined resin on two of the four sides and is available only with silver trim. The standard Exception is now available in red and black, both featuring gold trim. The classic navy and black are offered in silver trim. The fountain pens are individually hand-crafted 18kt gold nibs and are filled by either cartridge or converter. We believe this is truly an exception to the rule of 'round'.
