Colorado Pen Direct is a descendant of the original Colorado Pen Company. Colorado Pen Company began in 1991 with a single store based in Denver Colorado. In 1997, Founder Pete Paradise pursued his objective to expand not only the retail presence to 60 locations but to add a catalog and then internet business units. Our current owner, Bob Melvin, a direct mail and retail consultant was retained to advise and rollout a catalog in spring 1997. The test went so beyond expectations a formal rollout of the catalog began during the fall of 1997. Mr. Melvin was hired as Vice President/Marketing for Colorado Pen Company. The internet site was updated as well.
During late 2000 Colorado Pen Company made the decision to reduce their retail store locations. The catalog and internet sides of the company were then purchased by Mr. Melvin and have been run as a separate entity since fall 2000. Colorado Pen Direct was chosen as the new name for the entity as it reflected both the mission and selling channels. Colorado Pen Direct has flourished since that time and is recognized as a leader in selling fine writing instruments world-wide by its partner-vendors.
