Otto Hutt

Exacting German standards

The story of Otto Hutt begins in Pforzheim, Germany during 1920. This Bauhaus Design student launched a precious metal-working company to craft utensils and fine writing instruments. The form follows function principles of Hutt and Bauhaus are combined with the exacting standards of Heidelberg nib genius Peter Bock AG. Each fountain pen, rollerball and ballpoint is crafted to meet all these rigorous principles.

    The Purist

The Otto Hutt collection is brand new to the USA. Pen connoisseurs around the world have long recognized the value of these designs. Precious metals are combined with exacting workmanship in the Design 1 fountain pens, rollerballs and ballpoints. Don't miss the optional German made 18k gold fountain pen nib opportunity. Thoughts figuratively fall onto paper as this nib skims the surface. No hyperbole could begin to address the unique sensation of this rare optional nib.

Lacquer is laid onto brass barrels in four coats of either deep red or classic black. The surfaces are polished and then trimmed with platinum plating. The 925 sterling silver cap has a smooth surface and is paired with the red barrel. The black model has a pinstriped version of the same 925 sterling cap. Your own serial number is engraved into the cap and you may choose to add a personal touch with an engraved name or sentiment at the clip. Ballpoint points are extended with a twist of the cap, while separate rollerball and fountain pen caps are secured with a snap. Standard fountain pen nib is a platinum plated stainless steel. Select a fine, medium or broad point for the standard nib or the optional German made 18k gold nib. Deemed the "Purist" among pen enthusiasts, Design 1 pens truly represent the Bauhaus-inspired creations of Otto Hutt.

    A life-long commitment

Return to the feel and heft of true sterling silver with the Otto Hutt Design 2 collection featuring fountain pens, rollerballs and ballpoints. Handcrafted 925 sterling silver covers the barrel and cap. The elegant pinstripe design flows from top to bottom. Fountain pens can be ordered with an optional 18k gold nib that writes like magic. The Otto Hutt logo appears on the standard platinum-plated stainless nib. Both options are available in fine, medium and broad points. Your personal serial number is discretely marked on a top edge and the Otto Hutt name quietly surrounds the base of the cap. A slight twist of the ballpoint cap exposes the point. Fountain pen and rollerball caps are removed with quick twist as well. Fill up fountain pens with the included converter and your bottled ink or standard international-sized cartridges. Rollerballs and ballpoints use standard refills available in a rainbow of colors. All Otto Hutt pens are accented with platinum plating for durability. These Otto Hutt Design 2 pens resonate with the basic Bauhaus principles of form follows function and long-lived, sustainable materials.

    Breathtaking

"Lacquer" does not begin to describe the finish on these Otto Hutt Design 3 writing instruments. The unique metallic blue barrels are platinum-plated with several layers of transparent and polishing lacquer added to give a special depth to the surface. Havana gold barrels, too, have a core of polished brass, but are then gold plated. The same painstaking transparent and polishing lacquer finish is applied. Don't miss the optional German made 18k gold fountain pen nib opportunity. Thoughts figuratively fall onto paper as this nib skims the surface. No hyperbole could begin to address the unique sensation of this rare German nib. Select a fine, medium or broad point for either the optional gold nib or the standard platinum-plated stainless steel nib. Fountain pens, rollerballs and ballpoints also have accents covered in platinum. A distinctive geometric arrangement of various rectangles is etched into the 925 sterling silver. Appropriately, an Otto Hutt logo and serial number finish off the cap top. A snap of the removable cap on rollerballs and fountain pens secures your point. Ballpoints utilize a twist for point deployment.
