TRIBUTE TO THE PALACE OF ITALY - LA CITTA REALE.
In 1750, Charles Bourbon bought the land at the foot of the Tifatini Mountains from the Acquaviva family. His plan was not to revive the Palace of Versailles, but to provide the reign a new capital far from the sea and the threats it may bring. Such a grand venture would require the assistance of a brilliant architect. Pope Benedict XIV permitted Charles to award the commission to the great architect Luigi Vanvitelli. The Royal Palace has 1,200 rooms and includes the Piazza at its feet. Outside are the Park and the Piazza Vanvitelli. The Park encompasses 120 hectares and is adorned with several fountains with a crescendo of theatrical effect. The Piazza is simply breathtaking in its splendor. Today, Delta of Italy introduces its homage to the great Palace of Italy. The cap and body are crafted of fine marbled resins hand turned from a single bar. The central ring and cabochon are Sterling Silver. The main ring offers the palace's main facade with great attention to detail. The cabochon offers a detailed casting of Charles Bourbon III and his companion, Amalia. The roller ball has a twist action cap saving one from having to remove and store a separate piece. It ships with a roller ball refill but will accept a Parker-Style ballpoint refill for those who prefer the feel of ballpoint ink.
