Visconti

Feel the Passion

Florence flows through Visconti pens as thoroughly as the ink. All Visconti pens are produced in this beautiful Italian city. Most models pay homage to inspiring artisans including van Gogh, Rembrandt and Michelangelo. Visconti creations reflect the care, time, craftsmanship and passion often displayed in the works of these masters.

  • Visconti Homo Sapiens Crystal Dream

The Homo Sapiens Crystal Dream is an exceptional fountain pen, showcasing all the unique benefits of the original, award-winning Homo Sapiens with several notable upgrades and modifications.

The Crystal Ink Chamber: The most discernible modification to the body of the pen is the addition of a large transparent window made from crystal acrylic resin. A large section of lava has been cut out of the pen’s body and replaced with a piece of clear crystal acrylic tube, transforming the pen into a demonstrator with a unique appearance and identity. This 'oversize' window offers the user a view of stored ink inside the pen and the pens 'double reservoir' power filling system.

The Double Reservoir: The original Homo Sapiens featured Visconti's 'single reservoir' power filling system. The Crystal Dream is upgraded to Visconti's patented 'double reservoir' power filler, a vacuum filling system that is easy to use and has considerable benefits. Patented in 1998, this is arguably the most advanced filling system ever developed in fountain pen history. The user can fill the pen with the equivalent of 10 cartridges of ink, and thanks to the two reservoirs, prevents ink from leaking during air travel.

The final change is the small Crystal Ring around the pen’s grip section. Metal has been replaced with crystal acrylic resin, offering a view of stored ink in the pen’s second smaller ink reservoir.

As with the original Homo Sapiens, the Crystal Dream is made from volcanic lava rock making the pen virtually unbreakable, naturally hygroscopic and very comfortable to write with. All trims are made from natural bronze and the cap closes with Visconti's patented 'hook safe lock'. The Homo Sapiens Crystal Dream is a must-have for every Visconti pen enthusiast.

Available as a fountain pen only, featuring Visconti's buttery smooth 18kt gold nib in rose to match the color of the pen's trim. The Crystal Dream is available in EF, F, M, B and Stub.

  • Visconti Homo Sapiens Lava Color

    Visconti Lava Color Collection

    Arriving 1 October

We are delighted to announce the launch of the highly anticipated Homo Sapiens Lava Color collection, Visconti's latest addition to the iconic Homo Sapiens series. Visconti reinterprets their flagship pen line with color, a more modern image and a new in-house 14kt gold nib. Availability of this bestselling Homo Sapiens addition will be tight. We have inventory reserved. Please place your order if at all interested.

Like its predecessors, the Lava Color is made from Visconti's well-known and much treasured, lava rock; making the pen virtually unbreakable and very comfortable to write with. The Lava Color collection is the perfect union of catalyzed Mount Etna basaltic lava and colored resin using Visconti's patented methods. This natural combination creates a rugged stone-like feel and texture with rustic natural colors. The collection is launched in three matte finishes: Blizzard (white), Inferno (red) and Sandstorm (tan), each pen is accented by black ruthenium trim. The volcanic material features an anti-stain treatment that protects the pen and prevents ink from depositing on the pen during refilling.

Each finish is available in fountain pen, rollerball and ballpoint. The rollerball and fountain pen feature an exclusive magnetic closing system which makes opening and closing the pen effortless. The ballpoint operates with a twist. Identical to previous Homo Sapiens models, the fountain pen fills with Visconti's patented power filling system but new to the lava color is the introduction of Visconti's in-house 14kt gold nib.

A First for Visconti; a 14kt Gold Nib

The Lava Color collection introduces a first from Visconti, a new in-house, 14kt gold oversized nib. The new nib has been engraved with a more contemporary design, but in keeping with tradition, it retains a crescent moon shaped breather hole, a distinctive feature of Visconti's precious nibs. Each nib is hand polished and entirely made in-house:

The nib, feed and housing; consequently, the entire pen is produced in Florence. Each nib is plated in black ruthenium to match the color of the pens trim. Available in extra fine, fine, medium and a broad width.

  • Visconti Homo Sapiens Skylight

    Engineered Beyond Our Wildest Dreams!

We are pleased to announce that the much-anticipated Homo Sapiens 'Skylight' is now in stock. We expect huge demand for this exciting new pen and advise you shop early before these are gone.

The 'Skylight' is truly an engineering marvel, a pen that showcases all the unique benefits of the original award-winning Homo Sapiens with the addition of the new extraordinary 'Skylight' windows. Two transparent windows transform the Homo Sapiens into a unique demonstrator, where the user is not only able to benefit from seeing the remaining level of ink stored but is also able to view Visconti's patented 'double reservoir' vacuum filling system.

The Homo Sapiens 'Skylight' offers all the benefits of the original Homo Sapiens Bronze Age. It’s Mmde from volcanic lava rock, the pen is virtually unbreakable, naturally hygroscopic and very comfortable to write with. All trims are made from natural solid bronze. The cap closes with Visconti's patented 'hook safe lock'.

The fountain pen features the soft, buttery smooth Visconti 18kt gold fountain pen nib in rose gold vermeil to match the color of the pen's trims. The Visconti design and engineering teams worked hard to add the following innovations:

    Sky Light Windows
Two 'Skylight' viewing windows enable the user a view of the flowing ink within the interior of the pen. A large window cut into the pen’s barrel offers a view of stored ink in the larger ink reservoir (trimmed in natural bronze). A smaller window behind the pen's grip offers a view of stored ink in the pen’s second smaller ink reservoir.

    Double Reservoir Power Filler
The single reservoir power filler in the original Homo Sapiens Bronze Age is replaced with Visconti's patented double reservoir power filler. A vacuum filling system that is easy to use and has considerable benefits. Patented in 1998, the double reservoir power filler is undoubtedly the most advanced filling system ever developed in fountain pen history. It allows the collector to fill a fountain pen with the equivalent of up to 10 cartridges of ink, and thanks to the two reservoirs, prevents ink from leaking during air travel.

How the Double Reservoir Power Filler Works
The body of the pen is divided into two ink reservoirs, one larger in the pen’s barrel and one smaller behind the pen’s nib. When writing, ink is used from the small reservoir, when ink runs out ,the user then transfers ink from the larger back-up reservoir to continue writing. Essentially, the larger reservoir acts as a portable 'bottle of ink' inside the pen. The two reservoirs are separated by a cut-off valve, when it is open, ink can then move freely from one reservoir to the other:

Before air travel, the user does the opposite and drains ink from the small reservoir back to the large reservoir and then tightens the valve. Once emptied, there is no ink in the small reservoir to leak out of the nib due to a change in air pressure when flying. Ingenious!

  • Visconti Opera Master Polynesia

The Opera Master 'Polynesia' transports the collector to the exotic Polynesian islands famous for its dazzling beaches, serene blue seas, and coral reefs shimmering in clear waters. This is an exceptional fountain pen featuring the many patented innovations favored and sought out by Visconti collectors.

'Double Reservoir' Power Filler: A vacuum filling system that is easy to use and has considerable benefits. Patented in 1998, this is arguably the most advanced filling system ever developed in fountain pen history. The user is able to fill the pen with the equivalent of 10 cartridges of ink, and thanks to the two reservoirs, prevents ink from leaking during air travel.

'Hook Safe Lock': This revolutionary closing system is very satisfying to operate and was created to lock the pen body into the cap to prevent the possibility of the pen accidentally unscrewing and leaking inside a pocket or bag.

'Semi- transparent demonstrator': The 'Polynesia' features a semi-transparent resin cap and body with enchanting swirls of blues, white, cream, and brown inspired by the paradise islands' luminous blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, swaying palm trees, and powdery beaches.

The Opera Master Polynesia is truly an engineering and handcrafted wonder combining all of the innovation and passion that Visconti brings to market.

This edition is limited to a world-wide production of 888 pieces.

  • Visconti Homo Sapiens Magma

    Homo Sapiens Erupts Again

In 2010, Visconti shook the fountain pen industry with a breakthrough both in design and use of materials when the original Homo Sapiens Bronze Age was launched. Carved from pure basaltic lava and enriched with resin materials, the pen encompassed the strength of ancient powers, juxtaposing its volcanic nature to a soft and smooth writing experience thanks to its 18kt gold nib. This award-winning writing instrument was followed by the Homo Sapiens Dark Age designed with black ruthenium trims.

Today, the Homo Sapiens collection is still one of Visconti's signature writing instruments. Virtually unbreakable and naturally hygroscopic, the Homo Sapiens arrives in the "Magma" edition featuring red trims symbolizing the eruption of molten lava through volcanic passageways. The glossy metal red trims give a fiery contrast against the matte black lava of the pen's body.

The Homo Sapiens body features lava which has some incredible qualities making it the perfect material for writing instruments. It’s virtually unbreakable, it’s slightly hygroscopic (meaning it absorbs moisture during use and has a slightly cool feel) and its density provides for a relaxing grip.

The Homo Sapiens Magma collection is available in ballpoint, rollerball and fountain pen. The fountain fills using the Visconti patented power filler vacuum system and is enhanced with Visconti's large black plated 18kt gold nib. It’s available in extra fine, fine, medium and broad. This fountain pen does not accept cartridges. The power filling system draws ink into its own internal reservoir from your bottle.

  • Visconti Breeze

    A Refreshing New Breeze

The Breeze launches as Visconti's newest entry level price point, a considerable achievement considering that the pen is entirely made in Visconti's factory in Florence, Italy. Visconti was inspired to create an innovative and stylish luxury writing instrument at a more accessible price point for the new generation of pen lovers that demand style, quality and functionality in a pen. The result is a truly outstanding writing instrument. The collection is available in four new vibrant color palettes: Cherry, Lime, Blueberry and Plum.

The shape of Breeze reminds us of Visconti's iconic torpedo design, used in pens such as the Rembrandt and original Van Gogh. For the first time, Visconti has added the band to the pen's body giving a fresh new look. The grip is made from vegetal resin, the same material as the pen itself. This offers a comfortable writing experience and additional aesthetic appeal with no interruption between the pen's body and cap. The security of the magnetic locking system has been further improved with guidance grooves, resulting in a cap that does not rotate or move once capped.

The fountain pen features a new steel German made nib; smooth and precise to write with. The design has the perfect amount of width variation between nib sizes. Available in F or M nib. The rollerball uses a commonly found refill.

  • Visconti Rembrandt

As Classic as the Man Himself

Vibrant reds and blues, shadowy dark black or fun with pink? These are the choices you’ll face with this classic collection of Rembrandts. It’s all about the color! Every single Classic Collection piece is unique due the use of this variegated resin. It’s a collector piece.

The Rembrandt range uses a central design theme dating from the Renaissance period known as chiaroscuro; the playful contrast of light and dark. Under light, these contrasts are most profound. The central cast ring is finely engraved with motifs used by Rembrandt. The magnetic locking closure literally attracts the cap to the two-piece pen body. A twist ballpoint also features the iconic Visconti clip, designed for durability.

  • Visconti van Gogh

    Masterful Performance from Visconti

Vincent van Gogh is one of the most important painters in art history. Inspired by the famous artist, Visconti re-imagined his colors, textures and emotions to create their world famous Van Gogh collection. The collection is a tribute to the impressionist art movement and is now a Visconti icon around the world.

Each year Visconti creates at least one new writing instrument inspired by Van Gogh's most famous works. In 2018, Visconti introduced not one, but two new colors for the Van Gogh collection. "The Red Vineyard" and "Dr. Gachet" will be joining the ranks of one of Visconti's most popular collections. In 2019 Visconti released "Souvenir de Mauve" and "Wheatfield under Thunderclouds".

The subtle 18 faceted sides enhance the unique design in each vivid color. All are trimmed in silver with the name of the artist and painting delicately engraved on the center ring. The Visconti magnetic locking closure magically recaps your fountain pen or rollerball. All van Gogh ballpoints utilize a Parker-style refill which deploys with a simple twist. Fountain pens feature a fine, medium or broad steel nib and include a converter, but no cartridges. Rollerballs refill with any standard refill offered by assorted manufacturers. An amazing bonus is the dynamic gift box featuring a reproduction of the original artwork.

No two Visconti Van Gogh pens are alike. Each is made from a custom resin with unique flows of color. Equip yourself with a masterful piece from Visconti.
