A National Treasure Flies Again

The incomparable Amelia Earhart set two of her many aviation records in a bright red Lockheed 5B Vega. In 1932 she flew this beautiful aircraft alone across the Atlantic Ocean. To top that feat off she then flew it nonstop across the United States - both firsts for a woman. These shocking feats made Earhart an instant worldwide sensation and proved she was not only a courageous but able pilot. The Smithsonian acquired this aircraft, the same Vega she used in 1966. It proudly sits on display at the National Air and Space Museum to this day.

The Vega by Retro 51 has “rivets” acid-etched into the metal barrel with a bright red lacquer finish. Its top is then printed with the Vega’s original golden pin stripes. The commemorative design is completed with antiqued brass accents. The top disc displays a Smithsonian logo. The special edition pen is packaged in a commemorative tube that doubles as a pen stand. Fly away with Amelia at your side with this beautiful red and gold Retro 51.
