True Liquid Ink Writing
First introduced in about 1963, the rollerball pen was seen as a transition from liquid ink fountain pen writing to an easier and more convenient method; eliminating the loading of bottled ink into a fountain pen.
Almost always a two-piece pen with a separate cap, the rollerball refill transitioned from the ballpoint refill’s waxy, oil-based ink to a true liquid ink. The secret was in the significant improvement in the ball/tip technology. Rollerball refills are often offered in .5 and .7mm tips.
Less pressure needs to be applied to the pen to have it write cleanly. This encourages holding the pen with less stress on the hand, saving energy and improving comfort. This can also translate to quicker writing speeds. The liquid based inks we offer usually have a greater range of colors due to the wider choice of suitable water-soluble dyes and the use of pigments.
Rollerball refills do consume ink faster than a waxy ballpoint refill. The experience is superior to a ballpoint, but the cost may be slightly higher.

Rollerball pens are favorites of many customers because they use a more fluid ink than standard ballpoint ink. They offer in many cases a separate cap. Each of these best-selling pens represent our best value in a rollerball writer.
